Welcome to Beyond the Beanstalk's Blueprint Bonanza Professional Development Workshop, an essential training for educators eager to elevate their STEM teaching practices. Workshop Overview

Pre-Workshop Preparation

To tailor the workshop to your needs, we distribute a detailed questionnaire three weeks in advance. This questionnaire gathers information about your current STEM curriculum, available resources, educator confidence levels, student demographics, and specific goals or challenges. Your insights help us customise the workshop content, making it highly relevant and impactful.

Workshop Schedule: 3 Hours

Hour 1: Introduction and Foundations

We start with a warm welcome and an overview of the workshop. The first hour focuses on the importance of STEM education and reviews the insights from the pre-workshop questionnaire. We also introduce the fundamental building blocks of STEM, setting a strong foundation for the rest of the session.

Hour 2: Deep Dive into the 5-Week Plan

The second hour is dedicated to a detailed exploration of our 5-week STEM plan.

• Week 1: Introduction to STEM, Building Blocks Educators are familiarised with basic STEM concepts and engaging initial activities.

• Week 2: Integration of Technology in STEM Education This week enhances the use of educational technologies, like coding platforms and robotics, and how to integrate them into lesson plans.

• Week 3: Inquiry-Based Learning and Scientific Methods Focuses on implementing inquiry-based learning techniques to foster scientific thinking through hands-on experiments.

• Week 4: Engineering Challenges and Design Thinking Introduces engineering principles and the design thinking process, with practical challenges such as bridge building and robotics.

• Week 5: Cross-Disciplinary STEM Projects Develops projects that integrate multiple STEM fields, encouraging collaborative planning and execution.

Hour 3: Hands-on Activities and Q&A

The final hour is an interactive session where educators engage in practical STEM activities. This is followed by a collaborative planning session to develop tailored STEM projects for your classroom. We conclude with a Q&A and feedback session, ensuring all your questions are addressed and you leave with actionable insights.
