Welcome to The Changes in the Sky School Circuit

Exploring the Wonders of Space and Technology!

Embark on an Exciting Exploration of Sky and Space-themed Activities and STEM Education! Are you ready to unlock the secrets of the skies and delve into the captivating world of space? Join us for an immersive experience designed for primary school students as we explore the marvels of the universe in our Changes in the Sky Workshop!

Discover the Wonders of Space and Technology

How do wind patterns affect objects in the sky? What do constellations reveal about our universe? How do celestial movements influence our understanding of space? These are just some of the questions we'll explore in this engaging STEM activity. Through hands-on experiments and interactive learning, children will uncover the mysteries of the sky and gain a deeper understanding of these fascinating phenomena.

Hands-On Exploration and Experiments

Creating a Propeller: Students will engage in a hands-on activity where they construct propellers using simple materials like paper, straws, cups, and rubber bands. They will learn about wind patterns and how they affect the movement of objects in the sky, gaining insights into the dynamic nature of atmospheric changes.

Using Star Projectors: Children will experience the wonders of the night sky indoors through the use of star projectors. They will observe accurate representations of constellations, planets, and other celestial objects projected onto a surface, allowing for immersive exploration and discussions about the changes in the sky over time. This activity encourages contemplation of the vastness and beauty of the universe while highlighting the importance of astronomical observation in understanding celestial phenomena.

Playing Magnetic Chess: In this interactive game, students will explore the concept of celestial movements through a familiar strategy game with a twist. Using magnetic pieces representing celestial bodies, they will strategise and make moves based on their understanding of orbital dynamics, fostering a deeper appreciation for the precision and predictability of celestial phenomena.

Creating a Constellation Wheel: This activity involves crafting a constellation wheel using cardboard, markers, and split pins. Students will learn about the seasonal changes in the night sky by rotating the wheel to align with different months, discovering how the positions of stars shift throughout the year and the cultural significance of constellations.

Lava Rock Game: This engaging game simulates the formation and movement of celestial bodies like planets and asteroids. Students will travel across lava rocks of varying sizes in a designated play area, understanding how size and movement affect space travel. Through gameplay, they will grasp fundamental concepts of celestial mechanics in an entertaining and memorable way.
