Welcome to the Hidden Garden Sustainable STEM workshop

The Hidden Garden, where children embark on an exciting journey to uncover the mysteries of nature and sustainability. Designed for curious minds aged 2-5 and 5-12, this hands-on experience immerses participants in a world of weird and wacky experiments, all contained within a bottle or jar!

Overview:

Gardens are not just confined to open spaces—they can flourish everywhere, even within the confines of a jar! Today, children explore different weather conditions and environments through captivating experiments that mimic nature's wonders.

Exciting Experiments:

Water Cycle Wonders: Children kick off the workshop by learning about the water cycle and its influence on weather patterns. They discover new terminology and concepts, setting the stage for an exploration of natural phenomena.

Tornado in a Bottle: Next, children unleash their creativity by creating tornadoes in a bottle and racing them! They learn how the force used to make the tornado mirrors the wind and air pressure that form natural tornadoes, fostering a deeper understanding of weather dynamics.

Rainbow Rain in a Jar: Through a simple yet mesmerising experiment, children make rainbow rain in a jar, highlighting different stages of the water cycle in action. This hands-on activity reinforces key concepts while sparking wonder and curiosity.

Terrarium Exploration: Children delve into the world of self-sustaining ecosystems as they explore a large terrarium. They witness the water cycle in action and observe how a self-sustaining ecosystem thrives within the enclosed environment.

Creating Miniature Gardens:

Each child receives a jar and the opportunity to craft their own open-aired terrarium. With sand, coconut fibre, pebbles, succulents, and water, they bring their miniature gardens to life, learning about the essential elements needed for plants to thrive.
